Note: Stanfords Baseball Scheduling has pre-empted my show quite a bit lately. This will end after May, mostly.

Hey, I actually got an little over an hour of air-time this week! (the baseball game whisked along for once). Again, 100% new releases received by KZSU and "curated" by "moi". I kick things off with the most interesting track on the new PJ Harvey release, where she barks like a dog (not kidding folks). And it is soon followed by a cover of Comfortably Numb by The Bad Plus (a jazz trio) that will absolutely knock your socks off, is a "don't miss!!". Otherwise this set is heavy in new garage psyche and the other weirdness that I try to make float to the surface of 90.1 FM every Weds eve.

Well, the baseball game went really long but I did get about 20 minutes of airtime. So I crammed a quick but spicey set in of all new music, short and high energy tunes. Again, all new releases.

I got my old three hour time slot back for just this week, sort of a nice little slot seeing as the next couple months are riddled with Stanford men's basketball. Set is split into 2 files. This set is riddled with guilty pleasures and I explore some new prog and other old faves, move around genres a bit more. This is the kind of radio that I would do if I was there to "just have fun". As Music Director I usually find myself hitting the new stuff really hard for my own education. The music below has a large part of that element, but its also for entertainment purposes also. </Music_Geeking>

Below is a photo of the "A-file". This is a rotating shelf of recent releases that have been picked and reviewed by the Music Director(s) and staff of kzsu that we play in "heavy rotation" (i.e. 3 or 4 plays per week total, click on this link to see the current A-file). The shelf is updated weekly with 15-30 units and and CDs spend 9 weeks there until they are pulled. These are the only releases (along with vinyl equivalents that are on a shelf inside the studio) that contribute to our weekly charts. DJs are required to play 3 songs per hour (to keep their shows fresh and contribute to charts, the only music requirement at kzsu). This is why you may notice I play some new artists on a somewhat frequent basis over a 9 week period. in fact, the vast majority of my selections come from this file as my philosophy is that I am there to present the latest, greatest (and maybe not so greatest). Obviously this photo doesnt include the 120,000+ records and cds available for airplay in our library or my personal collection.
