The
Backstage burned down the week of this gig. Die Kreuzen were already
booked at there and were en route from Milwaukee. So the booker,
Nick, talked his friends at Terry's and Zekes on Speedway to host the
gig, dubbed it a "wake" for the much beloved much maligned
Backstage. The stage was set up near the entry, right next to a wall
of painted glass windows, which had us worried. But the show
went off without a hitch and heralded a sense of confidence that Tucson's
hardcore scene would survive without The Backstage. Die Kreuzen were touring their "Cows and Beer"
7" and their first release on Touch and Go (TnG #7) and were truly amazing that night..
